Job Description:

The Seasonal Education Specialist facilitates and supports Estuary EDventures’ (EE)  field trips and Summer Camp at the Tampa Bay Watch Marine Education Center. The ES assists in aquarium husbandry and program development. The position reports to the Director of Education. Position Start and End Date: 5/3/2021- 8/13/2021 Schedule: Monday-Friday  20-40 hours/week ( during summer camp 40 hours a week)

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as facilitator for EE field trip and summer camp programs / Teach students of various ages
  • Maintain Marine Education Center/Classroom and program materials
  • Design and implement education programs and materials 
  • Assist in the daily and weekly set-up, clean up, and facilitation of each program
  • Perform various in-field activities such as trawling, seining, and kayaking
  • Collect and identify species of the bay
  • Perform a variety of aquarium husbandry tasks
  • Assist in training and guiding interns and junior counselors
  • Serve as a mate on USCG-certified beach catamaran / Participate in USCG Consortium random drug testing program. 
  • Serve as kayak program lead 
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency protocol with the ability to make immediate necessary medical decisions and actions / Maintain valid adult and pediatric first aid and CPR/AED certifications
  • Participate in departmental meetings and trainings
